The meaning and message of the painting

The artist used bold strokes, together with deep and lifeless colours in a unique way to show the tree and the ground are being terribly destroyed, namely the partly submerged mainland in sea water; the gloomy, heavily polluted atmosphere and the helplessness of animals in the natural disasters. She made an endeavor to awaken humanity by revealing strongly how their irresponsibility caused the nature destruction. Using a simple painting style, Mrs. Nguyen wanted the artwork to pass from “heart to heart”, relaying her love for the environment, like in Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu's words: "People rely on land, land relies on God, God relies on religion, religion replies on nature”. The painting conveys a powerful message about the environment, climate change, the Law of Causality and the Samsara. She aimed at awakening humanity: "let's join hands to protect the green planet and prevent climate change”. This helps us not to suffer from any disastrous consequences with regards to her Buddhist perspective “what goes around comes around”.

The mission of the painting

According to artist Nguyen Kim Duc, she hopes that Cover of Future will be considered as the Brand Ambassador for environment, anti-climate change and also be presented around the world to promote the Green Planet protection in the future.

The artist's share about the painting

When I was a child, I witnessed the forest fire several times. Looking at each of the trees burned down by fire, I felt the twilight really liked a double break and the creatures tried hastily to escape the flames. “The Freshness To Life” is the only poem I have committed to my memory, including:
  • "On a block of wood this afternoon
  • Raindrops were so small
  • It pained my heart
  • But the forest was vast
  • People’s immensity as well,
  • Please join me!
  • For evergreen forest
  • The freshness to life
  • ..."
My mind has been full of every word, which inspired my love for the environment and tree-planting. I donated a large amount of money for planting trees to thank my life and my father. However, without the help of many soldiers and students, I could do my part successfully for our environment”. I always thank my father who has nurtured my aspirations for being responsible for the earth's lives. I always thank my father who has nurtured my aspiration for being responsible for the earth's lives. My father’s poems caused me to be concerned about the negative environmental impact humans have on the earth. Without the cooperation of the community, preventing the ecosystem from being gradually destroyed would be impossible. Therefore, I organized tree-planting events in schools, cemeteries, Agent Orange centers, pagodas, saline areas, islands. Having resonated with the saying "If you want to be healed, you must first cure your mind” in the famous short story of Chinese writer Lu Xun's “The Drug”; however; I believe that even if millions of new trees are planted, unless people change their wasteful and polluting habits, the environment cannot be saved. That mainly was what motivated me to create this painting. I had researched the idea for 2 months and then completed the painting in more than a week. It was created by using Vietnamese traditional silk and Van Gogh water colour. To be honest, I had to do it many times but my feeling was the same just because my profound love for the environment. At that time I was being conceived with the idea of fluidity and of soft silk. As a result, I sent a hidden but powerful message about our environment through it. Everyone has his/her own taste to judge it but I am happy that I painted it passionately. I used bold strokes, together with deep and lifeless colours in a unique way to show the tree and the ground are terribly destroyed, namely the partly submerged mainland in sea water and the gloomy, heavily polluted atmosphere. My purpose is to awaken humanity by revealing strongly how their irresponsibility caused the natural destruction. I hope that people will raise their awareness and jointly put much effort into protecting our beloved Earth Mother. The title of the painting was made of 9999 gold because I would love to show my strong goodwill to the environment-lovers with the spirit of “Calamity is man's true touchstone". It is too difficult to make this planet green forever because advances of science and technology cannot prevent natural environment from being destroyed totally. Therefore, only each of us can save the earth when our inner voices become impermanent and soaring in the world that ordinary people are not able to imagine. In addition to what the painting depicted about the present world of contaminated air, water and soil; there is still a green tree growing up. It is the Samsara, and I hope everyone will save this green planet together.
